Mechanism of Action

BISMUL is a bismuth subcitrate, in an aqueous solution, the dried complex becomes colloidal. In the acid environment of the stomach it forms a white precipitate mainly of bismuth compound. The precipitate binds to proteins at ulcer sites and forms complexes with mucus, so providing a local protective layer, which heals peptic and duodenal ulcer. BISMUL has a bactericidal effect against helicobacter pylori that causes duodenal ulcer.
