Oral: Chronic bronchitis:
Children 2-5 years: 62.5-125 mg 4 times/day
Children 6-12 years: 250 mg 3 times/day
Adults: 750 mg 3 times/day; reduce dose by 1/3 when a significant response is obtained
Use
 
Decreases excessive mucous production; may be used in acute or chronic bronchitis, rhinopharyngitis, tracheitis, acute or subacute laryngitis, otitis, and sinusitis
Adverse Reactions
 
Nausea, gastric discomfort, GI bleeding, skin rash.
Contraindications
 
Active peptic ulceration.

Absorption: Rapidly and well absorbed from the GI tract after oral admin.
Distribution: Penetrates into lung tissue and respiratory mucus.
