1.PHARMACOLOGY:
MUCOLAR is a mucolytic agent and is rapidly and well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. MUCOLAR appears to penetrate into lung tissue and respiratory mucus. MUCOLAR is excreted in the urine as unchanged drug and metabolites. MUCOLAR is used in the treatment disorders of the respiratory tract associated with excessive or viscous mucus.
2.INDICATIONS:
MUCOLAR is effectively used in the treatment of the respiratory tract disorders such as acute and chronic bronchitis, secretory otitis media
3.CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
MUCOLAR should not be used in patients with peptic ulcer and in the first trimester of pregnancy.
4.PRECAUTIONS:
MUCOLAR should be used with caution in patients with history of peptic ulceration.
5.SIDE EFFECTS:
Skin rashes, gastro-intestinal bleeding, nausea, headache, diarrhoea.
6.DOSAGE & ADMINISTRAION:
Adults: 2 Capsules (750 mg) 3 times daily.
Reduced to 1 capsule (375 mg) 2 times daily when response is obtained. Or as directed by the physician.
Children:
Age 2 - 5 years : ½ teaspoon to one teaspoon of MUCOLAR-100 Syrup 3 times daily.
Age 6 - 12 years : 1 teaspoon of MUCOLAR-250 Suspension 3 times daily.
7.PACKAGING & COMPOSITION:
-MUCOLAR - Capsules: A pack of 20 capsules. Each capsule contains Carbocysteine 375 mg.
-MUCOLAR 100 - Syrup: A glass bottle of 100 mL. Each 5 mL contains Carbocysteine 100 mg.
-MUCOLAR 250 - Syrup: A glass bottle of 100 mL. Each 5 mL contains Carbocysteine 250 mg.
8.STORAGE CONDITIONS:
Store MUCOLAR – Capsules and Syrup at temperature below 25°C.
