1. PHARMACOLOGY:
POFEN is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent, with analgesic and antipyretic properties.
POFEN is immediately absorbed after 1 – 2 hours by its oral taking from the gastrointestinal tract and it is excreted rapidly from the urine.
2. INDICATIONS:
POFEN F.C.Tablets – Oral Suspension:
POFEN is indicated in the treatment of:
- Mild to moderate pains such as: Migraine, headache, dysmenorrhoea, dental and post operative pains.
- Musculoskeletal and joint disorders such as: Osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, backache, sprains and strains.
- Fever.
POFEN Gel:
- Consolidation treatment in arthritis.
- Painful relapsing injuries of joints.
- Arthritis of backbone and joints.
- Inflammation of soft tissues adjacent to the joints as (tendinitis, tenositis, bursa tendon sheaths, ligaments and articular capsules).
- Neck pain, myalgia, lumbago.
- Traumatology of suportive origin: sprains, strains etc…
3. CONTRAINDICATIONS:
POFEN F.C.Tablets – Oral Suspension:
- Active peptic ulceration.
- Sensitivity to aspirin and other anti-inflammatory agents.
POFEN Gel:
- Open wound.
- Mucosal membrane.
- Eczema and hypersensitivity.
4. PRECAUTIONS:
- POFEN should be used with caution in patients with asthma, bleeding disorders, liver or renal failure or those under treatment of anticoagulants of the coumarin type.
- It should not be taken more than 3 days to relief pain or fever unless indicated by the physician.
5. SIDE EFFECTS:
POFEN F.C.Tablets – Oral Suspension:
Rarely: gastrointestinal disturbances, skin rashes, bronchospasm and leucopenia.
POFEN Gel:
It rarely causes: Erythema, pruritus, local itching.
6. DRUG INTERACTIONS:
- It should not be taken in combination with Sulfamides, Lithium products and Methotrexate.
- POFEN increases the plasma concentrations of Digoxin.
- POFEN reduces the effect of diuretics.
- POFEN increases the effect of coagulants taking by mouth and increases the effect of Heparin.
7. DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION:
POFEN F.C.Tablets – Oral Suspension:
Children: The dosage varies between 20 mg/kg per body weight daily to 40 mg/kg per body weight on divided doses.
Adults: The daily dosage 400-3200 mg with or after food in divided doses.
POFEN Gel:
Apply 3 – 4 times a day to the affected area.
8. PACKAGING & COMPOSITION:
- POFEN 200 – F.C.Tablets: A pack of 20 f.c.tablets. Each film coated tablet contains Ibuprofen 200 mg.
- POFEN 400 – F.C.Tablets: A pack of 20 or 500 (50*10) f.c.tablets. Each film coated tablet contains Ibuprofen 400 mg.
- POFEN 600 – F.C.Tablets: A pack of 20 or 500 (50*10) f.c.tablets. Each film coated tablet contains Ibuprofen 600 mg.
- POFEN 800 – F.C.Tablets: A pack of 10 or 20 f.c.tablets. Each film coated tablet contains Ibuprofen 800 mg.
- POFEN 100 – Oral Suspension: A pack of glass bottle of 100 mL. Each 5 mL of the oral suspension contains Ibuprofen 100 mg.
- POFEN – Gel: A pack of aluminum tube of 20 or 50 gr gel. Each container contains Ibuprofen 5 %.
9. Storage Conditions:

Store at room temperature 20° to 25°C.
POFEN – Gel:
Store below 25° C.
