1.CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY:
Meclizine hydrochloride is an antihistaminic which has a marked effect in blocking the vasodepressor response to histamine, but only a slight blocking action on acetylcholine.
Vitamin B6 needed for metabolism of protein, helps to maintain fluid balance required for healthy red blood cells, and being essential in helping to regulate the central nervous system.
2.INDICATIONS:
NAVIFEMM is indicated for management of pregnancy nausea and vomiting.
3.CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Meclizine is contraindicated in individuals who have shown a previous hypersensitivity to it.
4.SIDE EFFECTS:
Drowsiness, dry mouth and on rare occasions blurred vision have been reported.
5.PRECAUTIONS:
- Since drowsiness may, on occasion, occur with use of this drug, patients should be warned of this possibility and cautioned against driving a car or operating dangerous machinery.
- Patients should avoid alcoholic beverages while taking the drug.
- Due to its potential anticholinergic action, this drug should be used with caution in patients with asthma, glaucoma, or enlargement of the prostate gland.
- Do not give to children under 12 years of age unless directed by doctor.
Usage in Children: Clinical studies establishing safety and effectiveness in children have not been done, therefore usage is not recommended under 12 years of age.
Usage in Pregnancy: Pregnancy Category B.
6.DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Pregnancy nausea and vomiting: One tablet at night, when retiring.
7.PACKAGING AND COMPOSITION:
NAVIFEMM – Tablets: A pack of blister of 20 tablets. Each tablet contains Meclizine HCl 12.5 mg + Vitamin B6 50 mg.
8.STORAGE CONDITIONS:
Store NAVIFEMM – Tablets at temperature below 25°C in a dry place.
