1- PHARMACOLOGY:
Dipyridamole has antiplatelet activity; (which is very important for the prophylaxis of thrombo-embolism following cardiac valve replacement). Administered intravenously results in marked coronary vasodilatation and is used in stress testing in patients with ischemic heart disease .
2- INDICATIONS:
ELSANTIN 25 – F.C.Tablets:
- As prevention from arterial thrombosis in secondary polyglobulia appearing in the cyanogenes congenital cardiopathia.
- As prevention from thromboembolic complications in children with mechanical cardiac valve replacement.
ELSANTIN 75 – F.C.Tablets:
- In combination with oral anticoagulants for prevention of systemic thromboembolic complications in patients with cardiac valve replacement.
- In combination with Aspirin for prevention of systemic thromboembolic complications during aortocoronary pontine and myocardial infarcts.
3- CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Unstable angina, recent myocardial infarction, and aortostenosis.
4- PRECAUTIONS:
- Should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed.
- Should be used with caution in nursing mothers.
- The intravenous injection should be slowly administered.
5- SIDE EFFECTS:
Gastro-intestinal disturbances (nausea, vomiting diarrhea), headache, hypotension, and skin rash.
6- DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Dipyridamole injection concomitantly used with Pentoxifylline increases the risk of hemorrhage.
7- DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
ELSANTIN 25 – F.C.Tablets:
2-4 mg/kg body weight daily in 2 or 3 divided doses.
ELSANTIN 75 – F.C.Tablets:
Adults: 3-5 tablets daily in divided doses.
8- PACKAGING & COMPOSITION:
- ELSANTIN 25 – F.C.Tablets: A pack of 20 or 100 f.c.tablets. Each f.c.tablet contains Dipyridamole 25 mg.
- ELSANTIN 75 – F.C.Tablets: A pack of 20 or 100 f.c.tablets. Each f.c.tablet contains Dipyridamole 75 mg.
9- STORAGE CONDITIONS:
- Store ELSANTIN F.C.Tablets at temperature between (15-30)°C.
