1-PHARMACOLOGY:
Famotidine is an inhibitor of gastric secretion through competitive antagonism of histamine H2-receptors.
Calcium Carbonate and Magnesium Hydroxide are antacids.
FAMOX COMPLETE relieves heartburn in two different ways: Acid reducer (Famotidine) decreases the production of new stomach acid; antacids (Calcium Carbonate and Magnesium Hydroxide) neutralize acid that is already in the stomach.
2-INDICATION:
FAMOX COMPLETE is indicated to relieve stomach heartburn and gastro-esophageal reflux.
3-CONTRAINDICATIONS:
- Patients allergic to any of the drug components.
- Severe renal failure.
4-PRECAUTIONS:
Patients should consult the physician before taking this drug in following cases:
- Wight loss, persistent abdominal troubles, recently changed digestion troubles, hypercalcaemia and hypercalciuria patients with significantly reduced hepatic and renal function, hypophosphatemia, diabetes and heredity troubles in lactose metabolism.
- Do not use with other acid reducers.
- Do not take this drug with other drugs containing Calcium of Vitamin D.
- If you have trouble swallowing or persistent abdominal pain, see your doctor promptly.
- Do not take the maximum daily dosage for more than 15 days continuously except under the advice and supervision of a doctor.
- Care must be taken in patients do not tolerate fructose and galactose.
- Pregnancy: Category B. This drug should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed.
- Nursing Mothers: Decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother because of the potential for serious adverse reactions in nursing infants from famotidine.
5-SIDE EFFECTS:
Some rare side effects may occur such as:
-Nausea, vomiting , diarrhea, abdominal pain , dizziness, skin rashes, headache , dry mouth, flatulence, thirst, paraesthesia, alteration in taste, bloating, nervousness.
6-DRUG INTERACTIONS:
The product may interact with certain prescription drugs. If you are presently taking a drug, do not take this product without checking with your physician.
In case of administration of other drug, it must be taken after interval of 2 hours and after interval of 4 hours in case of administration of quinolones.
Drug interactions may happen with the following: oral antidiabetics, NSAIDs, dicuomarol, β-blockers, digoxine, fexofenadine, glucocortocoides, ketoconazole, lansoprazole, phenothiazines, penicillamines, thyroxine, gabapentine, salicylate, probencide, glucosides, thiazides.
7-DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION:
Adults over 16 years:
- 1 to 2 chewable tablets in 24 hours.
Do not swallow tablet whole; chew completely, before swallowing.
8-PACKING & COMPOSITION:
FAMOX COMPLETE - Chewable Tablets: A pack of 12 chewable tablets. Each chewable tablet contains Famotidine 10mg + Calcium Carbonate 800 mg + Magnesium Hydroxide 165 mg.
9-STORAGE CONDITIONS:
Store FAMOX COMPLETE - Chewable Tablets at temperature between (20-25)°C. Protect from moisture.
