1-PHARMACOLOGY:
Dipotassium clorazepate is a benzodiazepine derivative with sedative, anxiolytic, anticonvulsant and muscle relaxant properties.
2-INDICATION:
TRANQUIL is used in treatment of:
- Anxiety
- Convulsive disorders
- Alcohol withdrawal syndrome
3-CONTRAINDICATION:
- Pulmonary insufficiency
- Myasthenia gravis
- Pregrency
4-SIDE EFFECTS:
It may cause drawsiness, sedation, ataxia, amnesia, headache, skin rashes, jaundice.
Dependence may develop after regular use of drug even in therapeutic dose for short periods.
5-PRECAUTIONS:
- It shoud be used under medical supervision and only by physician prescription.
- The product should be discontinued gradually.
- It should be used with caution with patients with impaired liver or kidney function and elderly patients.
6-DRUG INTERACTIONS:
- Cimetidine inhibits the metabolism of the product.
- C.N.S depressants such as (alcohol, antihistamines, sedatives, antidepressants, hypnotics) increase the depressant effect of the product.
- Carbamazepines and phyntoin increase the metabolism of the product.
7-DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Adults:
* Anxiety: 5-30 mg daily as a single dose at night or in divided doses.
* Convulsive disorders and alcohol withdrawal syndrome : 15-60 mg daily in divided doses.
Children:
0.5 mg\kg body weight daily.

TRANQUIL 5: 30 capsules in a bottle . each capsule contains : Clorazepate Dipotassium 5 mg.
TRANQUIL 10: 30 capsules in a bottle . each capsule contains : Clorazepate Dipotassium 10 mg.
